About the artist

RETIRED PARISH PRIEST FROM NORTH YORKSHIRE. TRAINED BEFOREHAND AS A SCULPTOR AND ENJOYED A FEW YEARS FREELANCE BEFORE RECESSION IN THE '70S. USED SCULPTURE THROUGHOUT MINISTRY TO ILLUSTRATE SCRIPTURE. SOME INTERESTING COMMISSIONS OVER THE YEARS BUT BRONZE NOW PROHIBITIVE. LETTER CUTTING IS MY SECOND STRING. NOW I WRITE POETRY, LETTER SET AND PRINT WITH LINO ILLUSTRATIONS OR A BLOCK MADE FROM A LINE DRAWING. SOME WORK SCATTERED ROUND OXFORD, MORE IN DORSET, MOST IN YORKSHIRE. I HAVE PAINTED 21 OF 43 CHURCHES WHERE I HAVE OFFICIATED IN THE PAST 16 YEARS. TH. 2023.

1. Printed poem hand letterset with blocks from line drawings about the bronze statues, Morn & Eve, in City Square Leeds, and Circe nearby. 2. W/colour of sketch in situ on Ascension Day when University Church beats her bounds here All Souls college. 3. Drawn while college singers sang in anchored punts, end of summer term.
